Shailene Woodley Dishes On Her ‘Super F**Ked Up Family’ In New Interview

Shailene Woodley has offered a rare glimpse into her upbringing in a new interview with NET-A-PORTER’s weekly digital magazine, The EDIT, admitting that her quirky personality stems from her 'super f**ked up family' and unconventional childhood.

The 24-year-old actress' progressive parents - her dad is a psychologist and her mother is a counsellor - operated a revolving-door policy for those in need.

'I came home to things that weren’t great,' she told the magazine. 'My family is super-f***** up in many ways.

'But they are also my everything. They would do anything for me, and I would do anything for them.

'That’s a lot more than most people can say about their families. I’m grateful for the sh*t that happened.'

The former teen star – famous for her roles in the Divergent series and The Descendants opposite George Clooney – revealed that she and her brother used to be forced to hug on the lawn for hours in front of the neighbors whenever they had a fight.

The star said: 'The whole time you’re just seething, you’re disliking this person with so much energy, but if you let go you have to stay there for an extra hour.

'That was the manipulative psychology my parents were into!'
