Obasanjo is proud and clueless, his endorsement of Buhari is irrelevant and of no effect – Roland Owie

A former Chief Whip of the Senate, Senator Roland Owie, has described the endorsement of the All Progressives Congress, APC, presidential candidate, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, by former President Olusegun Obasanjo, as “irrelevant and of no effect.”

Owie also said Obasanjo’s action was unfortunate.

He said: “A Bini parable says the nose does not perceive its smell. Obasanjo does not know that he never had any electoral value in this country, in his zone, local government area, ward and booth. In 1999, Obasanjo lost his booth, ward, council, state and the entire South West zone. In 2003, in his second coming, he won the booth at the villa with just six votes and went ahead to betray the Alliance for Democracy, AD governors in South West, led by a great son of Nigeria, Chief Segun Osoba. Obasanjo pleaded with the governors to allow their supporters to vote for him at the presidential election while the governors would be voted for at the governorship election. Alas, after Obasanjo got his own votes, he ditched the governors.”

Owie, however, said Obasanjo’s open declaration of support for Buhari was a good sign, adding that “It is good for President Goodluck Jonathan that Obasanjo endorsed Buhari openly. With that endorsement, Buhari will lose not less than 10 million voters in Nigeria. Obasanjo’s nature is to smile at a person he wants to destroy and keep a dagger behind him. Buhari should know that Obasanjo has no friend.”

Describing Obasanjo as “proud and clueless,” Owie said, “We had formed PDP before General Abdusalam and Gen Ibrahim Babangida brought Obasanjo out from prison to reap where he didn’t sow. The PDP guidelines in 1999 provided then, that before a presidential aspirant can fill the party nomination forms, PDP must have won previous elections in the booth, ward, local government and state of the aspirant. However, Obasanjo was made president and yet he is not humble and pretends to be an electoral giant.”
